 The
Van Wert County Correctional Facility is a 78 bed county owned building
located at 204 N. Washington St. Van Wert, Ohio. The facility was
originally opened in September of 1998. The facility offers inmates
programs such as anger management, parenting skills, GED, along with drug
and alcohol rehab. There is a work release program for inmates who are
employed and qualify under strict established guidelines.
The
Sheriff also maintains an inmate community work crew program. Inmates are
placed on supervised work crews to do community service work throughout
Van Wert County. This provides a service to the public of numerous
man-hours of community service by the inmates, while at the same time
instilling a philosophy of good work habits and work ethic with the
inmates.
